November 15, 2005
November 15, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Digital River (http://www.digitalriver.com) has been chosen to provide ecommerce support for SEGA of America. The agreement between the companies sees Digital River managing sales of SEGA game titles purchased from the company’s web site (http://www.sega.com) and numerous online retail, content and portal sites in the Digital River oneNetwork online sales channel.

“With more than 10 years of experience, we have developed ecommerce best practices to successfully grow an online business,” said Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO. “Taking a multi-channel approach to online selling is one of the most effective strategies a company can use to build its ecommerce business and increase market exposure for its software products. By selling software through branded online stores and our oneNetwork online sales channel, our clients can maximize their market and revenue opportunities.”

As part of their agreement, Digital River recently launched SEGA’s online store. Alongside hosting the store site, the company is providing fraud prevention screening, customer support, and physical and digital delivery of many SEGA game titles (including Virtua Fighter, Eastside Hockey Manger 2005 and The House of the Dead) which will be available for sale and download through Digital River’s oneNetwork online sales channel.

“Online distribution presents growth opportunities for SEGA and we are poised to bring leading-edge games into that channel,” said Chris Olson, director of Web for SEGA of America, Inc. “Digital River’s oneNetwork will allow us to quickly and easily expose our games to a very large audience of consumers that shop on popular, high-traffic online retail sites.”

Digital River, Inc. builds and manages online businesses for more than 40,000 software publishers, manufacturers, distributors and online retailers. Its multi-channel ecommerce solution supports both direct and indirect sales and is designed to help companies of all sizes maximize online revenues as well as reduce the costs and risks of running an ecommerce operation. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis with offices in major U.S. cities; London; Tokyo; Taipei, Taiwan; and Cologne, Germany.
