, a privately owned Ethernet, managed services, and data center provider is celebrating the birth of the Internet with free social networking and Internet safety classes for its clients.
On August 1st, 1990 British physicist Tim Berners-Lee first suggested the network and processes that would become the modern Internet. Looking for an easy way to share information with other scientists, Berners-Lee worked with Robert Cailliau, a Belgian computer programmer, to design the first web browser. Later that year the pair created the idea of a URL, and the rest is history.
To celebrate this Jo Rogers, Spiderhost’s operations manager, is coordinating client training sessions in social media tools Facebook and Twitter, as well as session on Internet safety for kids.
“Much of our business is a direct result of the Internet; without it there would be much less of a need for our data center, hosting, and Ethernet services,” says Rogers. “We wanted to help our clients get the most of the Internet and the low-cost opportunities it presents, so social networking training sessions seemed like a natural fit,” she said.
Rogers added that clients expressed an interest in learning how to keep kids safe on the Internet, so Spiderhost added a class on Internet safety.
Spiderhost will offer one social media class and two Internet safety classes monthly. Social media classes start in September; Internet safety classes began on August 20th. Spiderhost clients interested in attending should contact Jo Rogers, Operations Manager, at 1-866-SPIDERHOST.
