June 16, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Sport England has selected UK-based web hosting provider Netstore (http://www.netstore.co.uk) as a strategic partner, it was announced yesterday. The move was based on Sport England’s need to acquire better hosting service levels than it was receiving from its previous hosting partner.
“I wanted more than guaranteed availability - I needed a partner that could give us 24/7 support, but that could also bring application development to the game and help us with our web site,” explained Mr. Peter Fellows, the Head of IT at Sport England. The contract was put out for tender before Sport England chose Netstore. Migration to the Netstore environment took about 6 weeks.
The three-year hosting agreement provides a monthly bandwidth allocation that Sport England can burst by small amounts. Discussing the agreement Mr. Fellows suggested, “We can control the web under one service level agreement and we can grow the sites as we need. We only have got a small team and they cannot do everything – and we need support for when the internal people cannot cope.”
Formerly the English Sports Council, Sport England is responsible for providing services and funding to sport in England. The organization invests in and promotes community sport.
