July 11, 2007
July 11, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – SWsoft has launched version 8.2 of its Plesk software, it was announced today. The new Plesk version is available for the Linux/Unix and Windows platforms and offers Application Packaging Standard (APS) support. This enables service providers to offer customers software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications with “minimal integration costs and downtime”.

The Application Packaging Standard (APS) defines a specification for software vendors to create “pluggable” applications that can be delivered by service providers. The new Plesk software includes Single Sign-On (SSO) technology, which “streamlines the integration required by modern SaaS solutions by allowing end-users to manage applications using a single login and password”.

"Plesk 8.2 is a major milestone for SWsoft that will allow service providers to extend affordable, reliable SaaS solutions to more customers, particularly small-to-medium businesses, and will create new revenue opportunities for software vendors," explained SWsoft’s CEO, Serguei Beloussov. "This release of Plesk delivers greater flexibility with new options for ecommerce and email protection, and further advances our OPEN FUSION initiative." OPEN FUSION is an SWsoft technology initiative to improve integration among a wide range of systems, third-party applications and modules, and custom and in-house solutions.

Key Plesk 8.2 features also include Sitebuilder 4.0 Integration, Plesk Anti-Virus Powered by the Kaspersky Module, MIVA Merchant E-Commerce Module, a ColdFusion Management Interface, CommuniGate Pro support, and MyLittleAdmin support.
