NuBlue.co.uk, formed just last year by brothers Thomas and Michael Ashworth, is celebrating this week. The company has been short listed for the ‘Big Chip Accessibility and Web Standards Award’ in recognition of their achievements in providing standards-compliant web solutions for business.
‘Big Chip’ is the largest digital media awards ceremony outside of London and is supported by major sponsors, such as Microsoft and Cisco Systems. NuBlue’s own website www.nublue.co.uk, which adheres to the strictest web standards specifications, has been nominated. The award criteria included… “Entrants in this category should seek to demonstrate how their technical competence in modern web development techniques has enabled them to broaden audiences for clients, improve website accessibility and show visual flair whilst maintaining compliance with web standards.”
The first UK members of the international web standards group (WSG), NuBlue specialises in opening up customers’ websites to the largest possible online audience. These standards are the first ‘trading standards’ for web designers and developers across the world but, even now, there are still only 4 UK members.
Director of NuBlue, Michael Ashworth, comments “We are thrilled that NuBlue is being recognised for creating websites which are available to everyone. Some designers choose not to implement web standards, as it is difficult, using most software editors and hand coding is time consuming. Michael and Thomas are now crossing their fingers that they come away winners from the Awards, which take place on the 24th May at New Century Hall in Manchester.
