May 17, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Yahoo! Inc. has announced the general availability of Yahoo! Answers (http://answers.yahoo.com) - an online community where people ask and answer questions on a multitude of topics. Since its beta launch in December 2005 Yahoo! Answers has answered over 10 million questions and as a result this database of human knowledge is being incorporated into the mainstream Yahoo! Search.
"The integration of Yahoo! Answers with web search demonstrates the Yahoo! Search vision to enrich people's lives by enabling them to find, use, share and expand all human knowledge," suggested Yahoo! Search’s Vice President of Products Mr Eckart Walther. "Yahoo! is providing a better search experience by making it easier for people to tap into the collective knowledge of others online for everyday questions."
People looking for every day answers to every day questions are now able to use Yahoo! Search to complete their quest. Asking questions such as "What's the best dog for an apartment?" or “Advice on cameras" will provide links to Yahoo! Answers where such topics were previously considered.
Yahoo! Answers is currently available today in Australia, Canada, India, the UK and the US. Spain, Germany and France are coming soon.
