Tucows Enhances Email Service

February 1, 2008
February 1, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Tucows (http://www.tucows.com), a provider of Internet services to web hosting companies and ISPs, has enhanced its email service, the company announced yesterday. The enhancements feature “a powerful solution to the global problem of spam” and offer providers the “option of using the spam and virus filtering portion of the service in conjunction with their current email infrastructure”.

Tucows Email Service customers can choose a fully-hosted email service, complete with POP3, IMAP, WAP and webmail access and 2GB of mail storage. Alternatively, they may use the Tucows Email Service as a gateway that “traps unwanted email” but provide their own email access and storage.

"Our approach with the Tucows Email Service is to deliver the tools our customers need to provide simple, reliable and cost-effective email to their users," explained Tucows’ , Director, Messaging, Mr. Kim Phelan. "We recognize that some existing providers of email want to continue to manage their own email infrastructure, but at the same time, might want to offload the increasingly challenging task of managing spam for their users. Providing the Tucows Email Service as an anti-spam filtering solution without the associated storage and inbox access addresses this need."

Tucows has a global network of over 9,000 service providers and caters for millions of email boxes. The company also manages over eight million domains. Its email service runs on virtual servers and features fully-hosted accounts offering 2GB of storage, IMAP, POP, WAP and AJAX-enabled webmail access, and for customers choosing the filtering-only option, a web-based spam quarantine.
