UK Web Hosting Provider XCalibre Launches “Pay-as-you-go” Server Program

December 3, 2007
December 3, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – UK web hosting provider XCalibre has launched a “pay-as-you-go” server program, it was reported recently. The program adopts the model introduced by Amazon.com and represents genuine competition for its S3 services. According to the company, Scotland’s Celtic Football Club is already utilizing its Flexiscale services, which are also being trialed by New York’s Cornell University. The company’s plan is to make its service available across Europe.

"This is one of only two software programs in the world that can offer clients a flexible web-hosting platform,” explained Mr. Tony Lucas, the Chief Executive Officer of XCalibre. “The other is owned by Amazon, but we have already found a number of clients who prefer our model.”

Mr. Lucas went on to explain XCalibre’s Flexiscale service now makes it possible for Web sites to utilize hosting products on an as needed basis. "Imagine a site for a popular rock festival that gets a steady stream of hits a year but then hits a peak in the days leading up to the event,” he went on. “At the moment, that Web site will have to pay a premium for a server large enough to cope with an enormous spike. Our product will allow them to buy hosting capability when and to what capacity they need. At the moment only the banks have the capability Flexiscale can offer. We have tried it and it can cope with rapid bursts and drops effectively."

XCalibre Communications Ltd. has been delivering hosting solutions to the home, business and reseller markets since 1997. Among its customers are TV production company Fremantle Media, the UK’s Royal Geographic Society, the UK’s Cabinet Office, and a number of UK National Health Service trusts.
