February 21, 2005 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) The New York Times yesterday reported the first arrest of Anthony Greco, 18, for spim or unsolicited instant messaging.
Greco allegedly sent 1.5 million messages advertising pornography and mortgages to members of the MySpace.com online networking service.
Greco then allegedly tried to blackmail MySpace.com into legitimizing his ads lest he share his spim techniques with the public.
He was then arrested in Los Angeles as he made his way to what he thought was a business meeting with the MySpace CEO.
The thought of all the spim and spam that the future holds makes me think that maybe the internet wasnt such a great idea after all.
