US computer software company Citrix Systems, Inc.
(Citrix) has announced the launch of a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution for Microsoft’s Azure cloud infrastructure. Citrix, which has global headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States, was founded in 1989. Alongside desktop virtualization solutions, the company‘s broad range of specialization includes app virtualization solutions, networking, and a suite of cloud services. Citrix’s latest offering provides a “simple, fast way to deliver Windows apps and desktops from Azure” and permit users to “work anywhere, anytime from any device”.
Citrix’s move is a response to the continued growth of cloud-based desktops. The cloud-hosted ‘Citrix Managed Desktops’ solution reduces the workload of administrators and offers a faster and easier means of delivering a DaaS solution. The solution is suitable for all companies “regardless of their size or IT expertise”. It represents a turnkey service and provides everything required to offer Windows desktops and applications securely. Citrix Managed Desktops also integrates with on-premises Azure-hosted virtual desktops and scales to allow companies to meet additional demands such as the employment of seasonal staff.
“Work today isn’t confined to physical offices or traditional devices. It happens around the clock and globe on everything from PCs and laptops to phones, tablets and even watches,” explained Citrix’s Senior Director, Product Marketing, Desktop and Applications Group, Ms Carisa Stringer. “With Citrix Managed Desktops, organizations can quickly and easily provide employees with access to their individual desktops and all the applications and corporate resources they need to do their jobs and perform at their best.”Do you know of any other companies launching new DaaS solutions?
