US Telecommunications Company CenturyLink Launches AppGridSM Private Cloud Service through the savvisdirect Online Channel
Monroe, Louisiana-based US telecommunications company CenturyLink has launched the AppGridSM Private Cloud Service through the savvisdirect online channel. The company, the third largest in US telecommunications, offers a range of cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for business. Its introduction of AppGrid underscores a strategy of simplifying cloud services and bringing them to more business customers.

With a dedicated private cloud environment deployed through CenturyLink's data centers in North America, AppGrid's graphical application design editor allows businesses to utilize web servers, networking appliances and databases to design, build, test and launch applications quickly and efficiently.

Built on CA Technologies' CA AppLogicâ„¢ cloud platform, AppGrid facilitates scalable private cloud services that simplify application development in the cloud. Available without contracts and on a month-to-month basis, AppGrid is different from other cloud-based solutions in that it provides a single ecosystem - managed through dedicated hardware - which is accessible through public IPs and VPNs. This avoids the usual need for a range of hardware configurations, scripting languages and application versions.

CenturyLink launched savvisdirect in the United States in December 2012 and the company plans to expand the service into Europe and Asia in the coming year.
