Web development platform provider Wix.com Ltd. (Wix
) has announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will now help its users design websites. Wix, which has headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, competes in the same space as Weebly and Squarespace. The company’s platform currently supports 80 million users globally.
Wix allows users to utilize themes and customizable templates to give websites a specific look and feel. It also offers apps that change the functionality of websites. By harnessing the power of AI, Wix believes that its users will be able to establish better websites more quickly.
The new Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) capability can search the internet to gather relevant information to use when generating websites. Finished websites include text, images and videos. Once developed a website functionality can be extended to include elements like blogs and ecommerce options. No two Wix ADI websites will ever be the same and websites will be tailored to a suit business category provided by the user. The system then “locates relevant content from around the web and social media channels that users can choose to add to their custom design”.
"Wix ADI is an advancement that has been under development for years, and we know from our deep experience and extensive research that there is considerable demand from individuals, designers and businesses all over the world for exactly this type of solution," explained Wix’s Head of Wix ADI, Nitzan Achsaf. "Wix ADI isn't just a new website builder - it sets a new market standard for web design. We have been at the forefront of this market for nearly a decade, and now as one of the leading AI technology providers, we will make website creation accessible and easy for everyone."What do you think about websites being designed by AI?
