Web host and domain name provider GoDaddy
has announced it is making‘.cn’ domains available through its services. GoDaddy, which has global headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States, is probably the world’s biggest domain name provider with over 62 million domain names under its management. The company specializes in offering services to business customers who need a viable internet presence. The addition of ‘.cn’ domain names to its portfolio means that it now offers domains with 421 different extensions.
Underscoring the importance of ‘.cn’ domain names, 600 million internet users reside in China with 16 million ‘.cn’ domain names having been registered to date. GoDaddy’s move is in line with its global expansion policy which includes Asia. The company operates in a total of 14 Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
"Having the ability to offer cross-border commerce with China is important, especially in the Asia Region," explained GoDaddy’s Vice President of Asia, Roger Chen. "We are pleased to offer the .cn domain name to small businesses to address this growing need."
"GoDaddy is one of our most important partners, we are looking forward to expanding our .cn domain name business worldwide with GoDaddy," added Xiaodong Lee, the CEO and President of the China Internet Network Information Center, or CNNIC - the administrative agency overseeing the Internet in China.
Alongside domain options, GoDaddy offers a wide range of hosting options as well as website building solutions, email solutions, and web security and online marketing options.
