Web host and domain name registration provider
EPIK Hosting (EPIK) has acquired cybersecurity company BitMitigate. Epik, which has headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was established in 2016. The company offers “100% Canadian web hosting” which enables users to adhere to Canada’s strict data sovereignty regulations. It “understands the need for high performance and reliable hosting solutions” and these include “premium green WordPress hosting”. All of its services are backed by a 99.9% uptime guarantee and a dedicated support team. Financial aspects of Epik’s acquisition of BitMitigate are yet to be revealed.
BitMitigate, which has headquarters in Seattle, Washington, United States, was established in 2017. The company “provides effective and high performance Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection solutions”. It provides a network of servers that spans the globe, and its proprietary ‘BitMitigate Web Application Firewall’ has protected users from some major cyberthreats. BitMitigate’s website security options are available free of charge or on a subscription basis.
BitMitigate will remain an independent entity, with Epik making it a division rather than absorbing it in its entirety. According to Epik’s CEO Rob Monster, BitMitigate’s security options can be compared to those of industry leader Cloudflare.
