DomainFactory GmbH (DomainFactory) has reported a data breach. DomainFactory, which has headquarters in Ismaning, Bavaria, Germany, was founded in 2000. The company offers a range of services including hosting, email hosting, reseller hosting and domain registration alongside Office 365 and HostedExchange options. DomainFactory is a major hosting player in Germany, and its data breach apparently reaches as far back as January 29 this year.
The company believes an extensive range of customer data may have been compromised, including customer names, company names, addresses and telephone numbers, email addresses and bank account names and numbers. DomainFactory’s customer phone passwords are also believed to have been compromised.
News of the breach first appeared on the company’s support forum last week (July 3, 2018). As DomainFactory did not immediately make news of the breach available to its customers, some customer data was apparently published online to prove an attack took place. The company has recommended its customers check their bank statements and make a comprehensive change to their passwords.
