Go Daddy is lending a hand in the fight against type 1 diabetes, it was reported recently. The company is sponsoring an event where "thousands of children and families" will be invited to "walk, stroll or run - and have fun" while learning about the disease and how to fight it. Organized by JDRF – an organization that provides support for children and adults living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) – the event is entitled "Walk to Cure Diabetes” and will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Coronado Center in Albuquerque. It starts at 8:30 AM while registration begins at 7:30 AM.
This will be the sixth time Go Daddy will sponsor the annual five kilometer walk. The company has donated in excess of $1 million dollars to JDRF since their sponsorship began in 2007. Around 20,000 walkers are expected at this year’s event.
"Go Daddy takes care of its customers and the community," suggested Jason Swencki, a Go Daddy employee with a son who has had type 1 diabetes for over 7 years. "Our family walks every year to raise money and bring awareness to this life-changing battle. Not only will my son have his family there to support him Saturday -- but thousands of others, who like Go Daddy, have a strong sense of responsibility to give back to the community will be there with us."
Go Daddy is also involved in another project designed to raise money for JDRF. It’s "Round Up for Charity" scheme encourages Go Daddy customers to "round up" a payment for Go Daddy services “to the nearest dollar”. Go Daddy then donates the balance JDRF. Around $150,000 has been raised in this fashion to date.

"Go Daddy's commitment as title sponsor of the walk the past six years and the generosity of their employees and customers has been remarkable. Go Daddy does more than write a check to support our cause ... they come out in mass to show they care about making a difference in our community."
