HostColor has launched a new managed hosting service. HostColor, which has headquarters in South Bend, Indiana, United States, was established in 2000. The company offers a range of services including colocation, cloud computing, dedicated hosting and disaster recovery options provided through its sister organization, HostColor Europe. It “maintains its own, fully redundant network connected to multiple carriers” including Level 3, Cogent, Hurricane Electric and Retn.net, while its main data center is also in South Bend. The new service is called ‘Managed Website’.
Managed Website is a shared virtual hosting service that involves HostColor managing its customers’ technical and system administration. This gives them the opportunity to focus on their core competencies and not IT. HostColor manages activities like setting up new sites, ftp accounts, email addresses and databases, and they also manage issues like updating antivirus protection and managing storage. This change in focus saves companies from the lengthy process of having to learn how to utilize their web hosting control panels and configuring custom settings. HostColor’s Managed Website Hosting plans also feature “1 hour of technical and system administration by default” and owners can extend their managed service as required.
The Managed Website service includes a domain and SSL certificate, a dedicated IP address, ‘enterprise-grade’ Solid State Disk (SSD) storage with built-in data protection, and website and content analysis for SEO purposes. It also offers uptime monitoring. Users are not bound by lengthy contracts and can subscribe to the service on monthly basis. “There are three major reasons the website management work to be shifted to the infrastructure providers,” explained HostColor’s CEO, Dimitar Avramov. “Web hosting companies are open 24/7; Their support teams have the knowledge to manage live versions of the websites; managed web hosting providers charge less for maintenance than the digital agencies.”
