Web Host LeaseWeb Parent OCOM Group Ranked Number 27 in Deloitte Fast50

November 2, 2009
November 2, 2009 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – The OCOM Group finished number 27 in the 2009 Deloitte Technology Fast50, the annual election of the fifty fastest-growing technology firms in the Netherlands. OCOM is the owner of hosting provider LeaseWeb, the CO2-neutral data center EvoSwitch, and network service provider FiberRing.

OCOM’s ranking in the Fast50 was announced during the official Fast50 award ceremony at The Talent Factory in ’s-Hertogenbosch on Thursday, October 29. Being number 27 in the Deloitte Technology Fast50 actually means that OCOM is the fastest-growing Internet service provider in the Netherlands. OCOM achieved sales growth of 860 percent, to 24.5 million euros, over a five-year period (2004 through 2008). For 2009, OCOM is expecting to generate sales worth 35 million euros.

The current growth rate is expected to continue since OCOM sells its products in an international market, with the global Internet services market as its area of operations. About 70 percent of its sales is generated outside the Netherlands. This is the second time for OCOM to earn a ranking in the Deloitte Technology Fast50 as one of the fastest-growing technology firms. The first time, OCOM eventually finished number 18 with a five-year growth rate of 1,087 percent.

OCOM Internet Services
The OCOM Group is an international leader in Internet infrastructure services with brands such as LeaseWeb, EvoSwitch and FiberRing. LeaseWeb is the Netherlands’ largest hosting provider and a global Top-20 player with clients such as the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Heineken, Hyves, AFAS and Koninklijke Joh. Enschedé.

EvoSwitch is a carrier-neutral data center with a green reputation (CO2-neutral). Its clients include Wikipedia, the Parnassia Bavo Group, Logica, NTT and Codemasters. FiberRing is a network service provider that focuses on networks in metropolitan areas (Metro Area Networks). FiberRing’s clients and partners include such companies as TeliaSonera, KPN, Citrix and TATA.

“It’s fantastic to see a company our size win a Fast50 award for the second time,” says Con Zwinkels, managing director and co-founder of OCOM. “This award reflects the commitment of OCOM’s companies over the past few years. It’s also an incentive to achieve our ambitions for further growth. Growth and expansion are crucial to the international competitiveness of Internet services and to the specific market proposition of OCOM’s companies.”

Con Zwinkels and Laurens Rosenthal
Con Zwinkels and his business partner Laurens Rosenthal are the joint founders and owners of the OCOM Group. Zwinkels and Rosenthal were still in college when they started to host websites on a server from their proverbial attic room. OCOM’s operations have since expanded to include more than just hosting. Its companies each serve their own segment of the Internet services market.

“LeaseWeb especially has been very successful in the hosting market for several years now,” says Zwinkels. “LeaseWeb handles more than 450 Gigabits of Internet traffic per second, which is processed each day by the company’s own worldwide hosting network via telecom carriers and Internet exchanges. The network now includes more than 22,000 servers.”

Zwinkels: “Although EvoSwitch was founded a little later, it is developing to become an attractive, financially sound company. The energy efficiency and efficient layout of the EvoSwitch data center enhance its attractiveness in the market.”
