May 19, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Web hosting provider The Planet recently announced that Ecom PPO.com has enhanced its contract to include an additional 20 seats at its full-scale business continuance center at The Planet's Dallas facility.

Business continuance services offer companies mirrored working environments in the event of a disaster. As part of these services, the Planet provides Ecom with furnished office space, redundant power, network connectivity, security, and telephone and computer networks. Ecom has for the past two years held 50 seats at The Planet's datacenter; the enhanced contract expands that number to 70.

"This enhancement ensures that our growing workflow remains absolutely seamless if disaster strikes," said L. Cade Havard, Chairman and CEO of Ecom.

The Planet's Business Continuance Center consists of 3,500 square feet of secure space equipped with cubicles, conference rooms, computers, training and break rooms, redundant power, and phone and network connectivity. The Center is supplied by both UPS and generator power, while more than ten Tier-One carriers provide redundant network connectivity. The Center also offers datacenter redundancies and a private internal network with firewall and domain controllers. It can be fully operational within hours of any catastrophic event.

"In today's information-critical economy, it's not sufficient to rely on data backup and remote monitoring for disaster recovery," said Peter Pathos, CEO of The Planet. "When a company's physical infrastructure is compromised, its employees must be relocated, its network must be re-established, and its customers must see minimal interruption in service." Pathos added that The Planet's industry-leading facilities, 24/7 monitoring and built-in redundancies make it well positioned for recovery and business continuance services.
