June 10, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - The Planet, announced today that it is sponsoring the Cyberathlete Professional League for the second consecutive year. The CPL is the recognized world leader in professional computer game competitions, having hosted tournaments in 50 countries and distributed more than $2 million in prize money since its inception in 1997.
The Planet provides hosting services for the CPL and will manage the Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) section at the League's Cyberathlete(R) Extreme Summer Championship. To be held the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas, July 6 through July 10, 2005, the Summer Championship is the only U.S. event on the League's $1 million Pro Tour schedule.

As part of the sponsorship, The Planet provides the CPL servers for Web, FTP, e-mail, forums and online registration, as well as a dedicated 100Mbit Internet connection through its Dallas datacenter. The Planet also hosts all Cyberathlete Amateur League (CAL) gaming servers, including free-play servers for the League's online tournaments.
