Web Hosting Canada (WHC) has acquired domain provider Sibername. WHC, which has headquarters in Montréal, Québec, Canada, was established in 2003. Accredited by the Canadian Internet Registry Authority (CIRA), the company offers a broad range of hosting-related products and services alongside domain name registration. These include traditional web hosting offerings and cloud and dedicated servers. The company’s services feature a site builder, and it offers WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla options as well as SEO and email marketing services. WHC’s acquisition of Sibername strengthens its domain registration capability.
Sibername has headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and besides domain name registration it focuses on providing cloud services. The company has been in operation since 2000. ICANN-accredited, it is a “leading provider of domain name services" and offers backordering services for domains with Canada’s ‘.CA’ suffix. The acquisition significantly increases WHC’s client list and extends the list of domains it manages. Sibername’s “domain-centric technology stack” and “.CA domain backordering expertise” made it a focus of WHC’s interest. Financial aspects of the deal have yet to be released, but it was reported that the two brands will initially operate independently of each other immediately after the acquisition.
