October 6, 2011
October 6, 2011 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Verne Global, an innovative, UK-based developer of power conscious data centre campuses, today announced that Datapipe, a leading provider of managed services and infrastructure for mission critical IT and cloud computing, plans to deliver carbon neutral managed IT solutions, including a green cloud and disaster recovery, upon completion of Verne Global’s purpose-built Icelandic data centre facility.

Verne Global’s 18-hectare campus in Keflavik, Iceland is 100% carbon neutral, drawing commercial power from Iceland’s dual-sourced renewable energy (hydroelectric and geo-thermal) power grid and utilising Iceland’s ambient temperatures to provide free cooling. Located between the two largest financial markets in the world, London and New York, Datapipe will utilise the facility’s low-latency, subsea connectivity to provide their clients with disaster recovery, business continuity, and cloud computing solutions.

“Verne Global has engineered an environmentally sustainable data centre that will enable Datapipe to expand into a new market while continuing our environmental leadership,” said Robb Allen, CEO of Datapipe. “Power and cooling efficiencies combined with the strategic geographic location will provide our clients with an option for carbon neutral, enterprise ready IT services and a 100% green cloud.”

The partnership with Verne Global furthers Datapipe’s overall commitment to being a global leader in sustainable IT. As part of Datapipe’s sustainability strategy, all of its U.S. data centres are powered with renewable energy. This earned the company recognition in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Partner Leadership Club, and the New Jersey Business and Industry Association’s Award for Excellence in the category of Environmental Quality.

“The industry continues to move toward environmentally sustainable solutions to power data centres. Datapipe’s leadership in this area is one to be applauded,” said Jeff Monroe, CEO of Verne Global. “The source, availability and cost of power remain one of the primary concerns for data centre operators around the globe. Verne Global addresses these concerns for our customers by bringing the benefit of dual-sourced, 100% renewable and affordable power to the European and North American data centre markets.”
