February 7, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider DiscountASP.NET (http://www.discountasp.net) has added SmarterTools’ (http://www.smartertools.com) SmarterMail API into its Open Control Panel API Library. The company’s Open Control Panel web service API library allows DiscountASP.NET customers to develop their web, desktop, or mobile applications that “interface directly with their web hosting account”.
“SmarterTools already provides powerful APIs out-of the-box with their SmarterMail product, so naturally we wanted to integrate them within our Open Control Panel framework,” explained DiscountASP.NET’s VP Marketing, Takeshi Eto. “Our vision is to continue to expand the Control Panel API and offer our customers the choice and flexibility to manage their hosting presence either using our hosted control panel application or through web services and customized user-driven solutions.”
SmarterMail API integration will allow DiscountASP.NET customers to retrieve email account lists, modify passwords, and create and delete email accounts through web services without accessing the hosting control panel or the SmarterMail webmail client. Customers can activate access to the API library via their control panel and are assigned a unique Authentication Key. In addition, a Sandbox Key is provided so customers can test their applications without the risk of making changes to their hosting account.
