Web Hosting Provider Go Daddy Launches Domain Appraisal

October 20, 2005
October 20, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider GoDaddy.com today announced the introduction of a Domain Appraisal service that establishes the value of the domain names. The "Express" version of the service allows Go Daddy customers to receive an appraisal within two hours of request submission. The service’s "Certified" Domain Appraisal customers receive an appraisal within two business days of request submission.

Appraisals are calculated using a number of factors including top-level domain (TLD), length, number of words, number of hyphens, numeric characters, and desirability. Certified Domain appraisals use the same criteria as Express appraisals with the addition of a review by Go Daddy's industry experts who consider market trends and other factors that impact value. Customers also receive "Appraisal Certificates" stating the domain's appraised value. "Certified" domains can be listed for sale on Go Daddy's auction marketplace, The Domain Name Aftermarket.

"Domain Appraisal is clearly a service whose time has come," said Bob Parsons, president and founder of GoDaddy.com. "Numerous customers told us they were interested in either buying or selling domains on The Domain Name Aftermarket, but simply had no idea as to how to determine the domain's market value. So we went to work to develop a comprehensive domain appraisal service that was based on a set of weighted factors and industry expertise – and backed by the Go Daddy name."
