Web Hosting Provider Go Daddy Launches Internet Auction Site for Domains

October 13, 2005
October 13, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web Hosting Provider GoDaddy.com yesterday announced the launch of ‘The Domain Name Aftermarket’ - a new Internet auction site for domains. The site offers customers a number of approaches to selling and purchasing domain names. These include a "Buy Now" option which allows customers to purchase domains at a set price, an "Expired Domain Auctions" option which allows bidding for expired domain names, an "Offer/Counteroffer" option where offers can be made for domain names with Domain Name Aftermarket staff acting as an intermediary for the sale, and a "7-Day Public Auction" that allows buyers to bid for domains and sellers to set minimum starting bids.

Go Daddy Domain Name Aftermarket accounts provide a simple user interface and 24x7 customer support. Escrow services are also provided (for sales of domains in excess of $500) to ensure buyers receive domains before the seller is paid and protects sellers against fraud. "The Domain Name Aftermarket's mission is simple -- to provide customers with a safe, secure, and easy-to-use marketplace to either bid on a domain name, or, post a domain for sale," said Bob Parsons, president and founder of GoDaddy.com. "And, we couple this mission with the highest level of customer service and support available," he added.

The commission rates for the service are between 5-7% and represent some of the lowest in the industry. There are no additional fees unless Premium listing services are required. Domain name customers using the Go Daddy service also receive a free email account and ‘Starter Web page’ alongside a number of other bonuses.
