August 4, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Hostway’s recent server migration left websites and back-office applications offline, eWeek.com reportedly recently. The article posted August 1, 2007 said Hostway customers posted reports on Digg.com and a number of social networking sites that suggested their service had been interrupted for up to three days.

eWeek’s article quoted Hostway’s website which suggests the company is one of the world’s largest web hosting providers in the world with around 600,000 web hosting customers. The article went on to say that it was unclear how many of Hostway’s customers had been impacted by the migration.

Hostway migrated its datacenter to sister company ValueWeb and the migration required more than 3,700 servers be moved from Affinity's Miami center to a Hostway center in Tampa, Florida, USA. According to eWeek’s article, customers were told by email that websites and applications would be offline for around 12-15 hours. Despite this, Digg.com forum postings suggest sites were still down July 30, 2007.

The article quoted a blogger called John P. as explaining, "Going on our third day of outage, the worst thing is that the people from Hostway—ValueWeb—have gone completely silent. They are not answering their technical support number, nor are they replying to e-mail. In addition to this, they are only sporadically updating their phone recordings—and they have not sent a single update email during the entire event."
