Web Hosting Provider Hurricane Electric Presents

September 19, 2006 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider Hurricane Electric will present a discussion on wiki technology at the inaugural meeting of its Web SIG held on October 25, 2006. The discussion will be entitled "Wiki Technology & Trends: Past, Now, and Future" and will take place between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at Hurricane Electric's new colocation facility in California. Admission is free but requires advance registration.

Web SIG is a group founded by members of Silicon Valley Webguild board which focuses on web technology, design and trends and is "designed to promote open discussions on technology and provide a friendly environment where friends and professionals can gather to exchange technical information and expand their knowledge”.

Wiki’s are websites where visitors can contribute or edit content without requiring HTML code. They are an ideal tool for collaborative authoring and becoming widely used in a range of applications. Hurricane Electric’s discussion on the topic will include a panel of industry experts including Ben Elowitz, CEO at Wetpaint.com; Jeff Walker, President at Atlassian Software Systems; Dr. Jonas M Luster, Community Manager at Socialtext; and Scott Johnston, Vice President of Products at JotSpot. Peter Thoeny, Founder at TWiki.org & Co-founder at StructuredWikis LLC.

"Web 2.0 is about collaboration and sharing information online. Collaborative Wikis are gaining popularity rapidly in the form of Wiki applications and Social Wikis. Can wikis outperform Blogs to become the main stream of web publishing? Can wikis outsmart traditional web applications? What is the outlook for Wiki 3.0? These questions will be discussed by the founders and executives of the key Wiki players in the market," suggested Bess Ho, Chair and Founder of Web SIG. "There is nothing more exciting than introducing our first meeting with a discussion panel consisting of five top leading wiki experts," added Bess Ho, Chair and Founder of Web SIG.
