March 22, 2006 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - Leading internet backbone Hurricane Electric (http:// www.he.net), whose services include web hosting provision, has announced an increase from a 1 Gigabit Ethernet port to a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port in connections to the NYIIX exchange. The move makes the company one of a few networks to utilize such a connection.
The upgrade will allow Hurricane Electric to increase traffic over its network and increase peer connectivity with other networks. This will result in increased capacity and a faster service for the companys customers.
"This upgrade was necessitated by a large upswing in traffic growth over the last several months," said Mike Leber, Hurricane Electric president. "We are actively working on upgrading numerous exchange points to improve our network connectivity in the U.S. and around the world."
