LCN.com today announced it will be offering free .UK domain names as part of its “10th Birthday Countdown Promotion”. The discount will be applied to a .UK domain name when a customer purchases any other two year domain extension in the same order.
Mark Boost, Managing Director, LCN.com, said: “Cybersquatting is fast becoming one of the most serious brand management issues for website owners. When cybersquatters pick up unregistered variations of a company’s web address, businesses are exposed to both dangerous and costly implications. The free .UK domain offer will benefit customers wishing to protect their brand by registering multiple domain extensions.”
Recent research conducted by Nominet, the registry that manages the .uk top level domains, highlighted that more than three-quarters of Britons would rather visit a .co.uk website than a .com domain.
Commenting on the report in November, Phil Kingsland, director of marketing and communications at Nominet, noted: "The report demonstrates that both consumers and businesses are willing to invest in 'local' domains because they are seen as reliable, relevant and trusted, and will give them a direct route to their target audience."
The free UK domain name offer will available on all new purchases made before midnight on 19 January 2010. On 20 January a new offer will be launched as part of the LCN.com “10th Birthday Countdown Promotion”.
