Whereas previously one website might be served by a single application, many developers “mix and match” tools that for websites. For instance, the root of a website might be served by Ruby on Rails while a Blog is served by an application such as WordPress. Alternatively, many websites might be served from a single Ruby on Rails process, which reduces resource usage on a server.
The new WebFaction control panel offers users a means of simply managing the “mix and match” process. The panel also provides a “one-click installer” for major development tools such as Ruby on Rails, WordPress, Django, and PHP.
Formerly known as Python-Hosting.com, WebFaction was established in 2003 and offers a range of hosting options from shared hosting to managed dedicated servers.
