Web Hosting Provider WiredTree Launches New 'Grove' Client Portal

December 7, 2007 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web hosting provider WiredTree (http://www.wiredtree.com) has launched its new 'Grove' client portal, it was reported recently. The company, a provider of managed dedicated and Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting solutions, designed the portal to “greatly improve” users’ online billing and support experience.

“The new portal gives our clients total control over their hosting environment and their relationship with WiredTree – support, billing, server management, hardware, network – everything,” explained the President of WiredTree, Zac Cogswell. “Through the statistics they can check on the performance and uptime of their server when they are away, or historically to plan for growth.”

The new portal provides near real-time server statistics, such as CPU/memory usage, disk performance and usage, and Apache statistics. The site also added bandwidth graphs so WiredTree clients can monitor their bandwidth usage on hourly, weekly, or daily intervals, with an adjustable alert threshold, making runaway usage nonexistent.

Additionally, clients can pick and choose which services on their server they want WiredTree support staff to proactively monitor and fix in case of trouble. The new site also allows clients to control DNS for their domains and Reverse DNS for their IP addresses. Leveraging WiredTree’s unique IPMI 2.0 technology, clients can remotely reboot their server, and can even check on the system temperature, voltages, and fan speeds, all from their site’s control panel.

“Our goal from the outset was to completely overhaul our previous client portal, improving both the aesthetic and functionality of the site,” added Mr. Cogswell. “Using client feedback as our foundation, we have spent the better part of a year building a site that has wide functionality, provides comprehensive site feedback, and responds directly to our clients’ needs.”

Cogswell said the new portal’s name came from a desire to give users their own personal place to interact with our staff and their servers. “The name ‘Grove’ seemed to match that intent,” he said.

Other new features include an SPF Record Wizard that easily generates SPF records; MXProtect, an automated, user-configurable MX record hardening that helps reduce spam; and extended VPS resource monitoring. New additions affect MySQL performance, email performance, security graphs and more.

Established in 2006 WiredTree provides a range of services alongside managed dedicated and Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting solutions. These include network design.
