WiredTree has added Solid State Drive (SSD) storage to its managed dedicated server options. The company, which has corporate headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, USA, operates a private datacenter in central Chicago. It offers a range of managed services including managed VPS and managed hybrid servers. The introduction of SSD adds additional performance to its managed dedicated server range.
WiredTree has opted for "optional enhanced SSD storage with write performance characteristics an order of magnitude faster than standard drives". Being solid state, SSD has no moving parts. As a result, it is significantly faster at retrieving and storing data than the traditional "spinning disk" type of disks. This means increased performance for WiredTree's customers' databases, file servers, and ultimately, their websites. The upgrade underscores the company's ongoing commitment to providing its customers with "the best in modern enterprise server technology".
WiredTree will replace its servers' Intel S3500 drives with Intel S3510 SSD drives for new dedicated server hosting and storage accounts. The drives can write up to 500 MB per second and read up to 460 MB per second. Additional upgrades are available for customers with major resource requirements. Intel S3610 and Intel S3710 drives offer a "ten-fold performance increase" on traditional drives.
“As a hosting company, we want our clients to have access to the best, the fastest, and the most advanced server technology on the market,” explained WiredTree's President, Zac Cogswell. “They depend on our technology to support their sites and businesses, and part the reason we are so trusted by our clients is their knowledge that they'll always have the server components and support they need to stay competitive.”
