WordPress managed hosting provider WP Engine
has opened a Technical Support and Innovation center in Ireland. WP Engine, which was established in 2010, has headquarters in Austin, Texas, United States. Offering “amazing digital experiences for websites and applications built on WordPress”, WP Engine has a presence in San Francisco, California and San Antonio, Texas, United States, as well as facilities in London, United Kingdom. Its new center in Ireland will serve “over 50,000 brands in 69 EMEA countries” and create 100 jobs in Limerick, where the center has been setup.
Roughly 20% of all websites on the internet are underpinned by WordPress, an Open Source (OS) Content Management System (CMS). According to the company, “5% of the online world visits a website powered by WP Engine every day”. The company’s new center has received the support of Ireland’s Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. The launch of the center was formally announced at an event in Limerick in the presence of Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Pat Breen, the country’s Minister of State for Employment and Small Business, and Finance Minister Michael Noonan.
"This is a very exciting project and I am really pleased that we have attracted this cutting edge technology company to a regional location and that it is providing 100 quality jobs for Limerick,” explained Mary Mitchell O’Connor. “This follows on from recent jobs announcements which show that there is a momentum growing for jobs in regions around Ireland. Ireland's growing expertise in the ICT sector and our commitment to ensuring that we can provide the requisite skills for companies like WP Engine is clear for all to see. I wish WP Engine the very best for their future in Limerick”.Do you know of any other companies launching new facilities? Let us know the details. Add your comments below.
