WordPress Training and Education Provider WPCompendium Offers Free Online Security Tutorials
WordPress training and education provider WPCompendium.org (WPCompendium) is offering free online security tutorials. WPCompendium, which has headquarters in Dural, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, offers free WordPress tutorials for beginners alongside its sister sites WPTrainMe and WPContentStore. It specializes in education solutions that focus on small businesses.

WordPress is the leading Content Management System (CMS) used on the internet and it powers over a quarter of all websites. It is an Open Source (OS) solution and can be downloaded free of charge by users who are interested in setting up websites. This makes it particularly attractive to small businesses who want to reduce costs on setting up a web presence. The problem is that it can be downloaded by hackers and others with malicious intent who can view WordPress’ code for potential flaws that can be used to take over a site. This leaves “millions of small businesses” at risk.

While web hosts do try to fight hackers WPCompendium’s Martin Aranovitch suggests “every website owner is responsible for learning the basics of how to improve their online security at all levels and not just hope that their web hosting company or web developer has this covered.” To help WPCompendium has established tutorials that enable WordPress site owners to “improve all aspects of their online security now have access to a free online guide to computer and website security written especially for a non-technical audience”.
