ZTE Wins Contract to Provide 1 Million ADSL Lines in China

June 1, 2005
June 1, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063, Hong Kong: 0763), China¡¯s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, is to provide more than one million lines of ADSL equipment to China Telecom, the country¡¯s largest fixed line operator, in a contract announced today.

The latest success, which represents 30% of the total award by China Telecom, confirms ZTE¡¯s global market strength in ADSL provision and follows previous two million-line ADSL orders clinched in December 2003 and August 2004 with the same operator.

As the leading broadband equipment supplier, ZTE has been committed to participate in and guide broadband standards establishment and new technology development, striving to bring quality yet cost-effective products to subscribers. Its ADSL equipment, featuring important technologies demanded by the operators, including multicast technology, ADSL 2+¡¢VDSL/VDLS2, product architecture, QoS, and broadband operation & maintenance, has been at the forefront of the industry.

¡°ZTE¡¯s leading position is mainly due to its advanced technologies and products, brand-new operation concepts, and excellent communications with operators.¡± said Mr. Zhu Dongtang, general manager of broadband access products, ZTE Corporation.

Underpinned by these factors, ZTE has successfully undertaken the construction of an ADSL network for Greece, following its good performance in last year¡¯s Olympic Games. It is estimated that, by end of 2005, ZTE will provide over 10,000 lines of ADSL products to OTE, Greece¡¯s largest fixed-line operator. In March this year, ZTE become a global supplier of ADSL equipment to France Telecom, one of the world¡¯s leading telecommunications carriers.

ZTE¡¯s ADSL products have been deployed in over 30 countries and regions around the world, including China, Greece, Romania and Egypt, with an accumulated capacity of 12 million lines.

Further success in China for ZTE came last week when the Corporation was again named as one of the top ¡°listed companies of investment value¡± in awards officially announced by CCTV (China Central Television), China's largest national TV network for 2004. Only ten companies are recognised in the awards and ZTE ¨C a winner in 2003 ¨C was the only company chosen from the telecommunications and IT field.
