Cloud-based web hosting provider
Bluehost has announced the launch of web hosting options that are optimized for the Open Source (OS) WordPress Content Management Solution (CMS) WordPress.
An Endurance International Group (EIG) company, Bluehost has headquarters in Orem, Utah, USA. The company's services include shared, Virtual Private Server (VPS), dedicated, and reseller hosting. Its new WordPress options have been "built from the ground up on open source technology" and offer the "effectiveness of the cloud, with the power and speed of Bluehost’s revolutionary VPS platform".
WordPress began life as a blogging solution but since inception has morphed into a sophisticated CMS. Being OS, it is free to end users and a Forbes report in September 2012 suggested that at that time there were 60 million WordPress websites on the Internet. Bluehost's optimized WordPress options mean WordPress can meet the needs of individuals and enterprises of any size.
Bluehost's new options feature 'one-click' WordPress installation and control panels that focus on managing WordPress features. Each control panel allows users to manage a number of WordPress sites. The service is underpinned by ongoing Bluehost technical and customer support, and Bluehost can escalate issues to the WordPress parent company Automattic when dealing with specific problems. Alongside this, the options offer SiteLock to protect sites against malware and backups with separate backup storage for added security.
“We believe in WordPress and we’re committed to providing the best technology platform for WordPress users,” explained Dan Handy, the CEO of Bluehost. “We’ve custom-built a solution that makes it simple to operate powerful, fast, and secure WordPress sites. We took the time to get it right and we’re really excited to see how it makes a difference to our WordPress customers.”
A large number of websites hosted by BlueHost went down on 31 December 2013 due to an outage at its parent body. There are a large number of EIG brands - Wikipedia lists over 30, but some are now defunct.
