Cloud Services Provider DreamHost Now Tenant at Colocation Company ViaWest's Newest Data Center
Cloud services provider DreamHost is now a tenant at colocation company ViaWest's newest data center. DreamHost, which was established in 1997, caters to around 400,000 customers with a range of services which also include web hosting, domain registration, and cloud storage. The company is regarded as ViaWest's "Anchor Tenant" at its new data center in the Portland, Oregon area.

ViaWest offers a range of services alongside colocation including hybrid cloud solutions. The company typically caters to businesses in North America and its new Oregon-based data center (its third in Oregon) launched earlier this month. On completion it will provide 138,000 square feet of raised floor space. DreamHost's decision to utilize ViaWest's facilities was based on its need to "consolidate its two data centers" and reduce costs by relocating its colocation outside California.

“We wanted to focus our internal resources on developing products instead of maintaining our data centers,” explained DreamHost's Vice President, Data Center Operations, Mr. Patrick Lane. "By moving to ViaWest’s Brookwood facility, the company will be able to achieve significant, double-digit percentage cost savings. In making our decision, we toured over 20 different data centers. Ultimately we selected ViaWest not only because of the facility and competitive pricing, but also because of the people; their company culture aligns well with our culture. At the end of the day, we felt we could trust the ViaWest team with our mission critical IT infrastructure, and that ViaWest would be more of a partner than just a vendor."
