Contabo Restructures VPS Portfolio with Three Performance-Focused Product Lines
Contabo has announced a major restructuring of its VPS portfolio, introducing three distinct product lines designed to match different workload requirements: Core VPS, Performance VPS, and Max Performance VPS.

The new portfolio is designed to make it easier for customers to choose a VPS based on the type of application they are running, from standard websites and development environments to demanding production workloads and high-performance applications.

Three VPS Lines for Different Workloads

According to Contabo, different applications have significantly different infrastructure requirements. A WordPress website, for example, does not require the same resources as a production API, database platform, or AI application.

The company has therefore divided its VPS offering into three categories, allowing customers to select infrastructure based on performance, resource requirements, and budget.

Core VPS for Cost-Efficient Hosting

Core VPS is Contabo's cost-optimised VPS line, designed for workloads that can operate reliably without requiring high levels of computing power.

The line is suited to applications such as web hosting, WordPress and other CMS platforms, email and file servers, development environments, and backup workloads.

Core VPS provides an entry point for customers who need dependable virtual server infrastructure while keeping hosting costs under control.

Performance VPS for Demanding Applications

Performance VPS is designed for customers who require greater processing and storage performance.

The servers use newer generations of AMD EPYC processors, with NVMe storage included as standard and network bandwidth of up to 1 Gbit/s.

Contabo says the configuration is intended to provide higher performance without positioning the service exclusively as a premium-priced offering. This makes the VPS line suitable for small businesses, development teams, and individual developers running more demanding applications.

Potential workloads include databases experiencing increasing traffic, CI/CD pipelines, API-driven applications, and AI agent frameworks.

Max Performance VPS for Dedicated Resources

Max Performance VPS, formerly known as Contabo's VDS offering, is designed for customers who require dedicated resources but do not necessarily need a complete dedicated server.

The service provides dedicated CPU and RAM allocated exclusively to the customer's instance, helping eliminate performance interference from other virtual machines on the same physical infrastructure.

The offering is aimed at production environments with demanding performance requirements, including high-traffic platforms, SaaS applications, multi-tenant software, real-time processing, AI agents, and lighter large language model workloads.

VPS Portfolio Responds to Changing Infrastructure Costs

Contabo says the restructuring comes as the hosting industry faces rising hardware and memory costs.

Rather than maintaining a single VPS product range designed to accommodate every type of workload, the company has chosen to separate its portfolio into three product lines.

The approach allows pricing and infrastructure configurations to more closely reflect the actual requirements of different workloads, giving customers more flexibility when selecting a VPS.

A More Flexible Approach to VPS Hosting

With the new portfolio, Contabo aims to provide a clearer path for customers as their infrastructure requirements evolve.

Customers running websites and basic server workloads can choose Core VPS, while growing applications can move to Performance VPS when additional computing and storage capacity is required. For production workloads requiring dedicated CPU and RAM, Max Performance VPS provides a higher level of resource isolation.

The three-tier structure is intended to help businesses, developers, and technical teams select infrastructure based on their specific workloads rather than paying for resources they may not need.
