Eco-friendly Web Host Codero Shows Its True Colors with Green April Events

April 8, 2010
April 8, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Committed to using renewable energy for every dedicated server it supports, Codero is taking even more ecology-conscious steps during April. The hosting company is launching events to encourage both associates and customers to enhance the role they take in keeping our earth green and healthy.

In celebration of Arbor Day, Codero invites its customers to participate in a campaign designed to help with reforestation. Customers using both dedicated and managed hosting plans may participate in the Codero Plant-a-Tree program by donating $1, $5, $10, $15 or $20 dollars through their online orders. Each tree costs $1 to plant and Codero will select a forestry organization to plant the tree in the customer’s honor at the end of the month.

First celebrated in Nebraska City, Nebraska in 1872, Arbor Day is now observed across the nation for the planting of trees. The observance of Arbor Day on the last Friday of the month in April has now spread to many other countries.

“Every year, thanks to Arbor Day, millions of trees are planted all over the United States and in foreign countries. Replanting can make a difference in the quality of our lives for generations to come. Trees not only control erosion and provide much needed habitat and nutrition for wildlife, they also absorb carbon dioxide to reduce climate change,” said Shelby Garlock, Director, Marketing for Codero.

For example, the average midsize sedan produces an annual amount of 10,168.3 lbs CO2, but this amount can be offset by planting 15.2 trees. A climate change calculator can provide more information on calculating carbon footprints.

In addition to the tree-planting project, Codero has invited all of the associates and their families at its headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas to commemorate Earth Day 2010 by participating in EarthWalk, April 11, 2010. The three-mile walk in Kansas City, Missouri is a fundraiser for Bridging the Gap, a local organization connecting business leaders, government agencies and citizens on environmental issues.

“This whole month represents an opportunity to be environmental stewards. It’s a great way for everyone to come together to take action to support the earth,” added Garlock.

Codero uses energy sourced out of wind farms to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The company is the largest dedicated server and managed hosting provider in the industry to offer eco hosting solutions across its entire operations so small- to mid-sized businesses can power their websites and online stores using green energy.
