November 25, 2011 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – At a specialist conference hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology for experts from industry to discuss energy-efficient solutions and future prospects for Green IT,
Hetzner Online was presented with the "GreenIT Best Practice Award".
The web hosting provider and data center operator convinced the jury in the category "Energy-efficient IT Systems" for the planning and implementation of its innovative data center park. The prize recognizes concepts and solutions which contribute towards improving energy-efficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The prize was presented at the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Berlin by Cornelia Rogall-Grothe, Federal Government Commissioner for IT, and Hans-Joachim Otto, Parliamentary Secretary of State in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
The jury of five high-ranking experts chaired by Dr. Hans-Joachim Popp of the German Aerospace Center shortlisted 27 entries from over 100 applications for the three award categories with eleven reaching the final round.
The Hetzner Online data center park impressed the jurors with its innovative and modular building concept, environmentally friendly direct free cooling, the use of power-efficient components as well as the use of special measuring and control engineering.
