Internet Service Provider Zen Internet to Lower Fiber Optic Broadband Prices
Internet service provider (ISP) Zen Internet intends to lower fiber optic broadband prices. The company, one of Britain's largest ISPs, is making a considerable investment in its network that will result in cost savings for customers.

Launched in 1995, Zen Internet was one of the United Kingdom's first ISPs and offers a range services including leased lines, broadband, web hosting, IP VPN, managed firewalls and data backup. The company caters to both businesses and individual users and it is also a network operator.

Zen will utilize Openreach local loop access to provide lower cost Fiber Optic Broadband from equipment it owns in local exchanges. The company will make an initial investment of more than £3.5m (US$5.38 m) to add another 270 exchange locations to its network of Points of Presence (PoPs) through which its services can be made available. Its increased investment and additional locations mean the company will be able to cater to around 6 million locations in the United Kingdom.

"Our considerable investment in building a new network of PoPs reflects our long-term plan to deliver services directly to our customers," explained Zen's Managing Director, Richard Tang. "Expanding our own network in this way allows us to provide more affordable services in what is a highly competitive and price-sensitive market, and we can guarantee an exceptional level of quality. Fibre is only going to grow in scale and importance over the coming years so this initiative represents a huge opportunity. This major investment reflects our ambition to provide our customers with award-winning technical support and customer service together with lower priced Fiber Optic Broadband services."
