Rumors Suggest Web Host FatCow Suffers Major Outage
A number of rumors are circulating the Internet suggesting web host FatCow has suffered a major outage. While the company's website makes no mention of any outage, its Twitter account received a number of requests for assistance yesterday. In addition, some Internet monitoring sites suggest that the web host experienced problems starting 13:34 (Pacific Time).

On 11 January 2014 the company's Twitter account suggested "We are currently experiencing an issue in our data center. Our network team is working to restore services. Updates to follow." Around an hour later the account mentioned, "Our team is actively addressing the issue in our data center to restore service for all customers". Later still the company's support team suggested, "We are working quickly to get this resolved. We will update when we have more updates". The last word on the issue was some two hours after the first indication of problems and suggested "Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work hard to get this resolved. Thank you."

FatCow, whose registered offices are in central London, UK, offers a range of services including Virtual Private Servers (VPS) services, dedicated servers and email, but it is recognized as a specialist in shared hosting. The company is offering a current promotion of a full year's hosting at only $40 per year. Established in 1998, it bills itself as " ...dedicated to the imaginative, the innovative, and the unique." The company also prides itself on giving people with great ideas "the capability to put (their) dream online, and the power to sustain that dream..."
