Web host and VPS hosting provider
SolVPS has joined the ranks of companies accepting Bitcoin payments. The company, part of US-based private IT firm Gaiacom, L.C., offers full SSD VPS hosting through servers located in the USA and Europe. The company will begin receiving Bitcoin payments for all services, including web hosting, and Windows and Linux VPS.
SolVPS' move supports its ideal of offering "the easiest, and most advanced VPS deployment system available". Payments will be received through the shopping cart on its website. After Bitcoin payment has been received, the company's VPS deployments are usually set up in between 20-30 minutes, but this depends on Bitcoin verification.
The company’s move underscores increased Bitcoin adoption in the industry. California recently passed legislation that permits citizens to make digital payments, but which fell short of recognizing Bitcoin as a true currency. The February 2014 collapse of MtGox did little to encourage people to adopt it as a digital payment method. The collapse meant that Bitcoin holders lost around 200 million dollars and it left the value of the 'digital currency' spiraling. At the time, this led to some calling Bitcoin a "digital Ponzi scheme".
Despite its history and issues, Bitcoin has been enjoying a resurgence of late with numerous providers adopting its payments services.
