Web Host Cirrus Tech offers Dedicated Customers Near Continuous Data Protection

July 26, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Web host Cirrus Tech is offering its dedicated hosting customers “near continuous data protection” through R1Soft’s Continuous Data Protection (CDP) software, it was announced recently. According to the company, the move comes in a bid to enable Cirrus Tech to provide a “reliable, efficient, and affordable backup solution”.

The plans allow users to make backups through a simple web interface but are also designed for easy upgrade to meet future backup needs. Plans offering from 20 to 500 GB of remote backup space are available.

Cirrus Tech’s customers will be able to choose from a range of backup plans offering specific amounts of backup space and a “maximum number of restore points”. The company’s choice of R1Soft’s solution was based on the effectiveness of a technology which takes “periodical snapshots” of hard disk drives and stores each snapshot as a “separate restore point”. Users can establish backups for any period, right down to only 5 minute intervals, although “data transfer that occurs as a result of the backup process will go against the (user’s) monthly traffic quota”.

Cirrus Tech Ltd. has been “actively promoting its services to the hosting industry since 1999” and now bills itself as “one of Canada's largest web hosting companies”. The company caters to a global customer base.
