DreamHost has launched website security scans “for the masses” by offering a new automated service called ‘Malware Remover’. DreamHost, which was established in 1997, offers a wide range of services. These extend to shared, dedicated server and Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting alongside its ‘DreamObjects’ cloud storage service and ‘DreamCompute’ cloud computing services. DreamHost is also recognized as a leader in cloud services for WordPress. Its new service will provide “inexpensive security scanning” for managed hosting options.
DreamHost’s proprietary Malware Remover was developed by its own security team. The solution identifies and neutralizes malicious code on customers’ websites. Domains are scanned weekly and customers emailed reports that list possible threats. The solution also automatically repairs malware and “permissions-based issues” and informs users when their web apps are out of date. Malware Remover is available at only $1.50 per domain per month.
“We’re happy to finally take the wraps off of our Malware Remover,” explained the Director of Security at DreamHost’, Marcus Hildum. “It’s the same basic tool we’ve been using and improving regularly for the better part of the last decade, and we’re excited to get this polished version into the hands of our customers. We’ve put a lot of work into building it up and improving the overall user experience because our users deserve to have a tool this powerful at their disposal.”
