Web Host Hetzner Online Donates 100 RAM Modules to Linux4Afrika
Web host Hetzner Online AG has donated used hardware to the Linux4Afrika project. The company, which has headquarters in Gunzenhausen, Germany, offers a range of hosting services including shared hosting, dedicated and managed server options, and colocation and colocation racks. The company also offers domain registration and SSL certificate services. The 100 RAM modules donated by Hetzner Online will be used on computers located in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Linux4Afrika project, which launched in 2006, is managed by FreiOSS.net e.V. The project helps schools in Kenya, South Africa and Mozambique by providing them with rebuilt Personal Computers and free software. The computers are "converted into thin clients", set up with the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) solution, and connected to a server. Hetzner Online's generosity will help give pupils at the schools involved in the project access to Open Source (OS) solutions and help them develop computing skills. The company has been a regular contributor to the project over the years.

“Thanks to Hetzner Online's generous donation of over 100 4GB DDR3 RAM modules we are well equipped for several years to come and can deploy a large number of computers,“ explained the Chairman of FreiOSS.net e.V., Hans-Peter Merkel.
