Web hosting and managed cloud services provider
Liquid Web is to receive "substantial investment" from Chicago-based equity firm Madison Dearborn. The company, which has been in operation since the early 1990s and has headquarters in Lansing, Michigan, USA, prides itself on providing Heroic Support - ongoing technical support from an "expert group of 24/7/365 solution engineers". The investment money received from Madison Dearborn will be used to extend the company's global activity.
Liquid Web caters to a 30,000-strong global customer base with a range of services which, alongside shared web hosting and managed cloud services, includes dedicated servers, colocation, firewall and load balancing services, DDoS attack prevention, as well as Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Virtual Private Server (VPS) offerings. The investment will prompt some changes at Liquid Web, with Jim Geiger taking over from Matthew Hill as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Geiger has a strong background in addressing the technology and cloud-based managed hosting services needs of small- and medium-sized companies. He moves to Liquid Web from Cbeyond, which had over 1,800 employees and around 60,000 customers at the time of his departure.
Established in 1992, Madison Dearborn provides investment funds for companies in a range of business areas including media, and technology, as well as telecommunications companies and companies in the health and financial sectors. To date the company has completed around 130 major investments.
“I am pleased and humbled to join such an impressive company founded by an entrepreneur and supported by employees who share my passion for taking care of customers,” explained Mr. Geiger. “Liquid Web is an extraordinary company and, as an entrepreneur myself, I will work tirelessly to ensure that the company continues to thrive. I look forward to working again with Madison Dearborn, and together we will focus our efforts on scaling the Liquid Web business globally while remaining dedicated to its core values of unparalleled customer service and hosting solutions”.
