Web hosting provider Web Werks India Pvt. Ltd. (Web Werks
) has achieved a key certification for one of its data centers. Web Werks has headquarters in Mumbai, India, and caters to around 5,000 customers globally. The company, which was established in 1996, is recognized as being one of India’s leading data center providers. A “carrier neutral” provider, Web Werks provides a range of hosting services including cloud and VPS hosting, dedicated servers and colocation. It operates five Tier III and Tier IV data centers and has facilities in the United States. The company has achieved PCI DSS certification for its IBM-built Tier 4 data center in Mumbai.
PCI DSS (v3.1), or more formally, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), is an international standard for companies that manage credit cards and collect information for Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB payments. The achievement sits alongside Web Werks’ ISO 9001, 20000-1, 22301 and 27001 security accreditations and allows the company’s ecommerce, banking, financial services and insurance customers to operate with the levels of security needed to “protect sensitive cardholder data and meet PCI DSS compliance standards for their business”.
"Seeing BFSI clients struggle with PCI compliance adherence made us realize a real market problem that needed fixing,” explained Web Werks’ CEO, Nikhil Rathi. “With Web Werks as the hosting provider, our clients will be able to leverage our PCI DSS compliance and easily get PCI compliant themselves. This adds yet another layer of security to the customers’ data."Do you know of any other companies achieving data center compliance certification? Let us know the details. Add your comments below.
