Web hosting solutions provider HostPapa is supporting the Kiva small business microfinancing initiative. HostPapa, which has headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, was established in 2007. The company caters to 500,000 websites and offers a range of services with support available in English, French, Spanish, and German. HostPapa will be “reaching out to its employees and business partners for contributions” to the Kiva initiative and “integrating the program into the HostPapa customer experience through social engagement, contests and reviews”.

Established in 2005, Kiva (Kiva.org) has headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States and has a presence in Nairobi. It is a “microfinance crowdfunding platform” supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries. To date the organization has “facilitated more than $880 million in no-interest, small business loans from over 1.5 million lenders to over 2 million entrepreneurs around the world”. The organization has experienced a 98% repayment rate.

"HostPapa has always been focused on providing online tools and resources for companies to help them achieve their goals," explained the CEO of HostPapa, Jamie Opalchuk. "Through our initiative with Kiva, we will now also be able to play a part in assisting less fortunate entrepreneurs achieve their business dreams as well. In countries where small business financing is difficult or impossible to acquire, many of these important businesses could never get off the ground without the support of groups like Kiva."
