June 22, 2007 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN has announced that a Dutch web hosting company, Leaseweb, is being forced to shut down a private torrent site hosted on its servers. A press release from the group suggests that as well as ordering the sites closure, a Dutch court has also ruled that the identity of the owner of the website, Everlasting.nu, must be divulged.
BREIN has been successful in closing down a number of torrent tracker sites and also closed around 150 eDonkey2000 indexing sites. Legal action was taken against Everlasting and Leaseweb after their refusal to comply to a cease and desist request.
Leaseweb is a known provider of illegal sites," explained a BREIN representative. "This verdict is the beginning of breaking down this safe haven for illegality. More cases will follow. They must comply or BREIN will sue.
